More than Words provides evidence-based strategies to develop communication intent, interaction, and joint attention in children with social communication delays. It also promotes turn-taking and back-and-forth interaction in children. We find both the rock and owl techniques are the best techniques for young children with delays in beginning interaction moreover help clinicians to pair with children easily.

It involves watching the child closely to understand their interests, actions, and communication attempt a nd and Paying attention to gestures, facial expressions, and vocalization. It focuses on listening to what the child trying to communicate verbally or nonverbally thus encouraging the child to independently communicate.
